Bayern Munich Rule Out Sale of Robert Lewandowski Amid Reports of Real Madrid Interest

?Bayern Munich have categorically ruled out the possibility of selling Robert Lewandowski this summer, according to ?Kicker.

The Polish striker has been at the centre of speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish club, having grown frustrated with current first choice striker Karim Benzema, are believed to have identified Lewandowski as a prime target.

But Bayern have dismissed reports of a potential transfer, and insisted that the Bundesliga’s top scorer will not be sold under any circumstances.

?Mundo Deportivo claimed last week that Lewandowski had agreed contract terms with Real Madrid, but added that negotiations had not yet taken place with Bayern.

The 29-year-old has scored 31 goals in 36 appearances for the Bavarian club this season, a typically prolific tally for a striker considered one of Europe’s best.

He has found the net 100 times in 121 Bundesliga outings since joining Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, and has 51 goals in 91 games for the Polish national team.

Former Germany defender Christoph Metzelder earlier this month claimed that Bayern would not allow Lewandowski to leave without finding a replacement.

“There isn’t a pain barrier [on the transfer fee] because a Robert Lewandowski is irreplaceable,” he said. “There isn’t an adequate replacement available on the market. Therefore, they will not allow him to leave.”

He added: “Normally, Bayern do not give up their top players and they do not need the money.”

Mohamed Salah & 7 Other Stars Who Enjoyed Incredible Debut Seasons

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah took his sensational debut season with the Reds to new levels at the weekend when he scored four in one game against Watford.

The Egyptian could hardy have dreamed for a better first campaign after the disappointment of his previous spell in England with Chelsea.

Salah is not alone in hitting the ground running in year one, with these others star arrivals in recent seasons joining him…

8. Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal (2014/15)

With Barcelona in the process of signing Luis Suarez, Alexis Sanchez left Camp Nou to join Arsenal in the summer of 2014 after a seriously impressive World Cup with Chile and needed little time to bed into his new surroundings in England.

Sanchez predominantly played as a winger in 2014/15 but still finished with 25 goals in all competition, including one in a victorious FA Cup final. His tally saw him become the first Arsenal player to reach that milestone in their debut season since Thierry Henry in 1999/00.

7. Gianluigi Donnarumma – AC Milan (2015/16)

A debut season in a different sense, 16-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma was promoted to AC Milan’s first-team in the summer of 2015 and was chosen ahead of the vastly experience Diego Lopez for his Serie A debut just three months later.

He was the youngest goalkeeper to start in Serie A in 73 years and the second youngest of all time. What’s more, the teenager immediately established himself as the new number one and finished the campaign with 30 league appearances.

6. Diego Costa – Chelsea (2014/15)

Chelsea shipped out Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o in the summer of 2014 after bringing in Diego Costa to lead a new look attack as manager Jose Mourinho targeted his third Premier League with the club.

Costa, a title winner himself with Atletico Madrid the previous season, showed no signs of needing time to settle and began with a run of nine goals in his first seven league games. He ultimately finished with 20 in 26 as Chelsea lifted the Premier League trophy.

5. Radamel Falcao – Atletico Madrid (2011/12)

Radamel Falcao suffered nightmare spells with Manchester United and Chelsea that didn’t get beyond debut seasons, while his maiden campaign with Monaco was ended prematurely after suffering a serious knee injury.

But back in 2011/12, Falcao had hit the ground running at Atletico Madrid after a big money move from Porto. His 36 goals in all competitions that season proved he could perform at the highest level and established him as arguably the best ‘number nine’ in the world at that time.

4. Robin van Persie – Man Utd (2012/13)

Manchester United fans would have been disappointed had Robin van Persie not had a sensational season in 2012/13 after joining the club for £24m from Arsenal. But given his previous record with injuries, his arrival was no surefire guarantee for success.

As it was, Van Persie actually had no trouble replicating the form that had seen him land a Premier League Golden Boot in his final year in north London. He finished on 26 league goals, with a hat-trick against Aston Villa a fitting way to wrap up the title he had been bought to win.

3. Arjen Robben – Bayern Munich (2009/10)

After fizzling out at both Chelsea and Real Madrid, Bayern Munich offered an injury prone Arjen Robben arguably his last chance to prove himself as an elite star after making the move to Bavarian club in the summer of 2009.

Fortunately for Robben, he was able to take it. The 2009/10 campaign remains the winger’s best goalscoring campaign to date with 23 in all competitions as he helped Bayern reclaim the Bundesliga title from Wolfsburg and reach a first Champions League final since 2001.

2. N’Golo Kante – Chelsea (2016/17)

N’Golo Kante’s first season in English football was truly spectacular as he helped Leicester win the Premier League title against all odds, but his debut year with Chelsea was arguably even better after he raised his game further still and proved it hadn’t simply been a fluke.

Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez had taken most of the plaudits at Leicester, but after winning the title at Chelsea the following season, Kante was recognised with the clean sweep of individual honours – the PFA, FWA and Premier League Player of the Year awards.

1. Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (2017/18)

Once a Chelsea flop, Mohamed Salah had a lot to prove when Liverpool brought him back to the Premier League for a fee of around £35m last summer. But, such has been his prolific goal return, it looks as though the Reds actually snagged a genuine bargain.

Salah is leading the way in both the Premier League Golden Boot and European Golden Shoe stakes, despite not even being an out-and-out striker. And, with 38 goals to his name in all competitions, he is well on course to become the first Liverpool player to net 40 times in a single season since Ian Rush way back in 1986/87.

Spanish Report Claims Arsenal Could Make Shock Summer Move for Bayern Munich Star

Arsenal are preparing to make a shock summer move for Bayern Munich star player Robert Lewandowski, according to a report from Spanish outlet ?Mundo Deportivo.

Lewandowski has been heavily linked with a summer move away from the Allianz Arena since January and has reportedly told Bayern that he wants to leave the club and, more specifically, join Real Madrid.

Reports emerging from Spain this week claimed that two meetings had taken place between Lewandowski’s new agent Pini Zahavi and Los Blancos officials and that an agreement had been reached between the two parties which would see Lewandowski join Real on a two-year deal.

However, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has since personally informed Bayern Munich that there is no truth behind the claims made by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, according to the Munchner Merkur.

Perez stated to the Bundesliga side that there had been no contact whatsoever between the player and the club and, moreover, no agreement had been discussed let alone reached.

The Gunners are loosely claimed to be another clubs who are interested in signing the Poland international in the summer, even after having spent £52m on Alexandre Lacazette in the summer and a further £56m on Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January.

Lewandowski has scored 100 goals for Bayern since he arrived from rivals Dortmund in 2014. This season, the 29-year-old has notched 23 goals in 21 Bundesliga starts. The former BVB man is still contracted to the Bavarian club until the summer of 2021 and so will cost potential suitors a hefty amount should he leave at the end of the season.

Louis van Gaal Reveals How Close He Was to Bringing Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford

?Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that he attempted to sign Bayern Munich star striker Robert Lewandowski during his time at Old Trafford.

In a reveal-all interview with German publication ?SportBild, Van Gaal spoke of his admiration of the Polish forward as well as his sometimes difficult relationship with his former Man United players.

Van Gaal arrived in Manchester as the replacement for David Moyes in the summer of 2014. During his two year tenure at the club, the Dutchman signed the likes of Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, and Angel Di Maria.

But one player he failed to bring in was perennial goalscorer Robert Lewandowski, admitting: “He is currently the best striker in the world. I also wanted to train Lewandowski and wanted to bring him to Manchester United.”

“The price was not a problem for Manchester United, but Bayern did not want to let him go.”

Lewandowski arrived at Bayern in the same summer that van Gaal moved to Manchester. The Poland international had already signed a pre-contractual agreement with Bayern after deciding to leave Borussia Dortmund.

Robert Lewandowski has since gone on to become Bayern Munich’s highest scoring foreign player in history. However, the 29-year-old could be on the move again after it ?was reported that he has agreed to a summer move to Real Madrid.

The former United boss also revealed that the he did not always get along with his players while at the club. Van Gaal used to send e-mails to his players to discuss their progress, but often these messages would go unread by the players.

“That’s true, too,” He added. “But this testifies to their unprofessionalism and I have then addressed them. I already did that with the emails at Bayern. My conviction is that a full professional also wants to live professionally. Like Arjen Robben. He read the emails.”

Jupp Heynckes Left Disappointed As ‘Excellent’ Leipzig Claim First Ever? Win Over Bayern

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes admitted that RB Leipzig “deserved to win” in his side’s 2-1 defeat at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday.

Sandro Wagner deputised for Robert Lewandowski in Saxony and the Germany international had put Bayern into an early lead with a well placed header.

However, goals from Naby Keïta and Timo Werner either side of half time saw Die Roten Bullen secure their first win over the reigning Bundesliga champions in the clubs short nine-year history.

RB Leipzig v FC Bayern Muenchen - Bundesliga

We faced an excellent opponent today. We have to acknowledge that,” Heynckes told Bayern’s official website

“Leipzig were really aggressive and ran hard to press us. We didn’t play as well as in recent weeks.

“Leipzig deserved to win. There are always games like today when you’re not at your best and don’t defend well.”

The Bavarians could have secured their sixth straight Bundesliga title this weekend, but results elsewhere left Bayern knowing they would have to wait another week before they are crowned champions.

Heynckes’s side still have a comfortable 17 point lead at the top of the league table, while RB Leipzig bolstered their hopes of securing Champions League football next season with the victory on Sunday and are now just two points away from the top four.
