I do not give a damn about Bayern Munich anymore, says Mats Hummels

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels has revealed that he could not care less about his ex-club Bayern Munich ahead of the Bundesliga clash at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

The Germany international, who spent most of his youth career at the Bavarian’s academy, had also spent his first three professional years at Die Roten but says he now has no fondness for the side.

“I do not give a damn about Bayern [Munich],” the 23-year-old told Bild, adding: “I have completely lost the link with the club.

“By this time, I am thoroughly a Borusse [dedicated to playing for Dortmund],” he said.

Hummels also admitted that he was delighted to have recovered from injury in time to appear against his former club, who top the German league.

“Remarkably, it is better now and I have trained normally with the team today,” he told reporters.

“I am expecting nothing less than being able to play [on Saturday],” he added.

The clash of the Bundesliga’s first and third-placed teams kicks-off on Saturday, December 1 at 18.30CET.

Ribery: Bayern Munich will definitely win Bundesliga title

Franck Ribery is confident that Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga title this term having had to settle for second spot last season.

The Bavarians sit atop of the table after 14 games, holding a 10-point lead over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, and the Frenchman insists that Bayern will be able to ensure they do not repeat the mistakes of last year’s campaign.

“I am 100 per cent sure that we will become champions,” Ribery was quoted as saying by Bild.

“The disappointments from last season motivate us to do better this year. We are all desperate to win the title. That’s the most important goal. After that, we can then look at how far we can go in the Champions League and DFB Pokal.

“We cannot afford to make the same mistakes we made last year against smaller clubs. We had an eight-point lead, but Borussia Dortmund beat us to the title. I am convinced that we have learned from what happened.”

Bayern are currently preparing for Saturday’s home match against Dortmund.

Bayern Munich – Borussia Dortmund Betting Preview: German giants almost certainly guarantee goals

Runaway German Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich will look to consolidate their place at the top of the table when they meet last season’s champions Borussia Dortmund in what promises to be a thrilling clash at Allianz Arena on Saturday evening.

Jupp Heynckes’ men have been in absolutely blistering form in the league, having dropped just five points in 14 Bundesliga matches and it is no surprise to see the Bavarian giants chalked up as favourites at 77/100 (1.77) with Marathon Bet to pick up yet another victory at the weekend.

Borussia Dortmund, though, have been particularly impressive in the Champions League this term and Jurgen Klopp’s men will not be keen to relinquish their grip on the title without a fight.

Dortmund are rated as a 15/4 (4.75) chance with Marathon Bet to take victory while the same firm go 3/1 (4.0) that the match ends in a draw.

Bayern Munich have slipped up just once on home turf this season, losing out 2-1 to second-placed Bayer Leverkusen but, otherwise, Heynckes’ side have been in imperious form, scoring an impressive 22 goals in just seven matches with only four against.

Dortmund, though, possess plenty of attacking prowess with the likes of Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze all likely to take their place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up this weekend and so, the defending champions will feel confident of breaching the Munich defence here.

It is also worth noting that only Dortmund have collected more points than Bayern in the last six matches and both teams are sure to come into this clash with confidence soaring.

Goals, then, seem almost inevitable and Marathon Bet’s 33/50 (1.66) quote for three or more goals to be scored here looks to be nailed on as does the 14/25 (1.56) from the same firm for goals to be scored in both halves.

Those seeking better value, though, may be tempted by the outstanding 7/5 (2.40) quote from Marathon Bet for the free-scoring hosts to score in both halves here while the chunky 37/10 (4.70) for Jupp Heynckes’ men to win both halves is also worthy of support.

Badstuber: Details will decide Dortmund clash

Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber is eagerly anticipating this weekend’s Bundesliga match at home against Borussia Dortmund, and expects a tight encounter at the Allianz Arena.

The Germany international is full of praise for the reigning champions, but has insisted that Bayern will do their utmost to make as few mistakes as possible and come out victorious.

“Dortmund are a fantastic team, but we’re in very good shape. It’ll be a tight, hotly contested game. The little things will decide it,” Badstuber was quoted as saying on the official Bayern website.

“I’m certain we’ll be the team making no mistakes, or fewer decisive errors. And we have to play as a tight unit, we need to come together and work together. That’s the recipe for success.

“The whole thing’s being heavily hyped. I’m trying to shut out all of that and focus completely on the match. That’s part of our craft. But obviously, it’s not just any other Bundesliga fixture, prestige is at stake.”

Saturday’s encounter is scheduled to kick off at 18:30CET.

Bayern Munich – Borussia Dortmund Preview: Hosts can kill off champions' title hopes

Bayern Munich shuffled the pack for the trip to Freiburg on Wednesday, leaving out Bastian Schweinsteiger. However, the Germany midfilder can be expected to slot back into the team after a well-deserved rest at the expense of Xherdan Shaqiri.

That will see him parter Javi Martinez in the deep-lying positions, with Toni Kroos shifting forward into the No.10 role. Elsewhere, coach Jupp Heynckes will have to make a decision on who will lead the line. Mario Gomez scored in the 5-0 win over Hannover last week, but was largely quiet during his hour against Freiburg.

Should the veteran coach decide not to pick the Germany star, either Mario Mandzukic or Claudio Pizarro will start in his absence. Luiz Gustavo, however, remains sidelined with a ligament problem, while Jerome Boateng is lacking fitness.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund also rested a couple of players for the game against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Tuesday. Mats Hummels sat out the Ruhr derby, but will slot back into the heart of defence at the expense of Felipe Santana.

Ilkay Gundogan also missed the Signal Iduna Park clash with a minor injury, but could return unless boss Jurgen Klopp elects to start with two defensive-minded midfielders in Sebastian Kehl and Sven Bender. Finally, Mario Gotze will start, with Kevin Grosskreutz the most likely to drop to the bench.

  • Jupp Heynckes has guided teams to second-placed finishes, behind Dortmund, for the last two seasons. His Leverkusen team ended 2010-11 seven points behind the champions, and Bayern trailed BVB by eight at the end of last season.
  • The Roten’s sporting director, Matthias Sammer, spent six years at the Westfalenstadion as a player, winning the Champions League and Ballon d’Or during his time there.
  • Borussia Dortmund have won all of their last four Bundesliga games against Bayern.
  • Mats Hummels began his career as a youth at the Allianz Arena, while Sven Bender, Mario Gotze and Moritz Leinter all hail from Bavaria.
  • Since losing to Schalke on October 20, BVB are unbeaten in the league, emerging victorious over Bavarian opponents in Augsburg and Greuther Furth since.
