Bayern Munich-Stuttgart Betting Preview: Backing Heynckes' men to finish the season with a bang

The Bundesliga and Champions League winners can complete an unprecedented treble with victory on Saturday and our tipster expects them to mark the occasion with plenty of goals

After breaking numerous records already in an astonishing season, Bayern Munich have the opportunity to establish themselves as the greatest German team ever when they take on Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday.

With the Bundesliga and Champions League trophies already in the bag, victory in the cup final would secure the first such major in German football history and Jupp Heynckes’ men are unsurprisingly heavy 1/5 (1.20) favourites with Bet Victor to complete their clean sweep.

Having lost both league meetings by an aggregate scoreline of 8-1, Stuttgart will have to hope their opponents are suffering from a Champions League hangover if they are to stand a chance of causing a huge shock, at 14/1 (15.00) odds.

Bruno Labbadia’s side were beaten by Nurnberg’s extra-time winner the last time they reached the final in 2007 and you can get odds of 13/2 (7.50) on this match also finishing all square after 90 minutes.

Many have pinpointed complacency as the only thing standing between Bayern and their third trophy, after a season in which they have shown themselves to be head and shoulders above almost every opponent, both domestically and in Europe.

However, it is hard to see Heynckes allowing his last game at the club to end in disappointment, especially considering the efficient manner in which the team have been drilled this season.

Instead, it seem likely that a highly-motivated team will fully justify their tag as overwhelming favourites by providing a memorable high-scoring match, in-keeping with other cup finals of recent years.

A bet on over 3.5 goals would have paid out in each of the last three finals, and having seen FC Hollywood demolish Labbadia’s men 6-1 earlier in the season, odds of 39/40 (1.98) look tempting on that coming to pass this time out.

Stuttgart’s route to the final was largely chartered by top-scorer Vedad Ibisevic, with the Bosnian having hit the back of the net in four of the five rounds and they will look to him for inspiration once again in Berlin.

The striker has 24 goals to his name this season and, with five in his last five, he looks a decent outside bet at 23/10 (3.30) to get his name on the scoresheet on Saturday, particularly as his side’s regular penalty taker.
