Although action in the Premier League has drawn to a close for another season, there are some games across Europe’s biggest leagues that are still left to play.
Titles have already been decided, and relegation candidates have largely been confirmed, but club football is far from over in some leagues across the continent.
And following another match day of crazy action across the channel, here are six things that you might have missed from across Europe this weekend.
6. Barcelona’s Unbeaten Run Ends in 9-Goal Thriller
What better place to start than the final game of the weekend, where La Liga champions Barcelona were unable to take their penultimate step in finishing the campaign unbeaten on the road to Levante UD.
The Catalan giants were involved in one of the games of the season at the Estadi Ciutat de València on Sunday, and Ernesto Valverde’s side fell to their first defeat of the campaign in a thrilling nine-goal classic.
Emmanuel Boateng’s hat trick and a brace from Enis Bardhi proved to be too much for Barcelona, with their best efforts at an incredible fightback proving to be in vain.
Levante had taken a shocking 5-1 lead in the game and despite a hat trick from Philippe Coutinho, as well as Luis Suarez’s penalty, the Blaugrana were unable to snatch a late equaliser.
5. Juventus Finally Secure Seventh Consecutive Scudetto
The title race we’ve all been craving for in Italy has finally come to an end and once again it is Juventus who sit at the top of the pile. Napoli gave it their best efforts this season but a few silly results here and there have ensured that the Scudetto in staying in Turin for a seventh consecutive year.
Juventus knew that a draw this weekend would be enough to clinch the title despite Napoli’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria, and the Old Lady were able to grind out a stalemate against the 10 men of AS Roma to secure the Scudetto once again.

4. A Kick in the Teeth for Football Purists
The German top flight prides itself on a league that is centred around tradition, but that core ethos was dealt a huge blow this weekend after it was confirmed that Hamburger SV – the only team never to be relegated from the Bundesliga – would be dropping down to the second division next season.
And to add insult to injury, scenes in their last game of the campaign ended in ugly fashion as police had to storm onto the pitch before the final whistle due to crowd trouble.
3. PSG Have Unbeaten Record Tarnished But Clean Sweep Ligue 1 Awards
Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain set the tone for losing an unbeaten record this weekend after they suffered their first defeat at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
Benjamin Bourigeaud and Adrien Hunou both got on the scoresheet for Stade Rennais as the Parisians slipped up for the first time on home turf this season.
But a silver lining for the French giants was during the Ligue 1 award ceremony on Sunday where Neymar and Kylian Mbappé were crowned with the league’s most prestigious awards, winning the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year respectively.
2. Bayern Munich Humbled as Jupp Henckes’ Era Ends
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich had their title party spoiled on an emotional and nostalgic final game of the season.
The Bavarians welcomed VfB Stuttgart to the Allianz Arena in Jupp Heynckes’ last ever home game in charge of the club, but the veteran manager didn’t receive the send off he deserved as Bayern suffered a 4-1 defeat on matchday 34.
Heynckes was able to get his hands on the Bundesliga trophy for one final time after the game where Bayern Munich celebrated another title in front of their own fans, and the German giants will hope to secure a domestic double this season with victory in next week’s cup final.
1. European Golden Shoe Is All But Confirmed
With league titles being won left, right and centre across Europe, focus can now shift to the award for the continent’s best marksman.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been in contention for the European Golden Shoe for most of the season, while the likes of Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Ciro Immobile are all sitting just behind the Egyptian winger.
But even without playing this weekend, it is Barcelona star Lionel Messi who looks on course to lift the award this season – the fifth time that the Argentina international has finished as Europe’s top goalscorer.
Messi currently has 68 points in the standings for the European Golden Shoe, the lowest winning tally since the 2009/10 season.
